While this year might have disrupted a sense of normalcy, there is also a lot of light to be drawn and gratitude to be reflected upon. One thing we can glean from the trials and tribulations of 2020 is that in times of struggle, people end up realizing that they're actually made of tougher stuff than they might have thought previously, as does the community at large. These challenging times have been a surprising ignitor of creative shapeshifting and has brought people together in amazing and unexpected ways.

Before we rush out of 2020 and into 2021, we would like to reflect on some of the good that came from a year that was like no other:

Celebrating A 15-Year Milestone
In Business

Secure-Rite Mobile Storage turned 15 this year. In 2005, Secure-Rite Mobile Storage was started with five shipping containers, a Blackberry, and big dreams in a parking lot on Enterprise Way in Kelowna.  Secure-Rite now has over 25 employees, 5 locations across BC and Alberta, 8 delivery trucks and has delivered upwards of 50,000 containers to over 14,400 customers.

Launching An Online
Booking Platform

At the onset of the pandemic, Secure-Rite rose to the occasion and launched an online booking platform for clients to book a container rental. If someone needs temporary storage – whether it’s onsite (at their home or at their business during the shutdowns and needed to protect inventory or equipment) or at one of our storage yards, they can book a container online from the comfort of their own home. We can also arrange the delivery and payment over the phone and then we can deliver it with no face-to-face requirement in this time of social distancing.

Celebrating The Very Best of Kelowna

For the last 8 years, the Best of Kelowna Awards have been a beacon for Kelowna's most cherished businesses - everything from charities, to restaurants, to home services and beyond. The 2020 Best of Kelowna Awards saw a staggering year-over-year increase in nominations, showing that not even a pandemic can keep local pride away from the polls. We'd like to thank KelownaNow for the
opportunity to sponsor such a homegrown event and showcase our support for this community, especially at a time where businesses have faced challenges they never could have imagined or planned for.

Double Win At The Kelowna Chamber Business Excellence Awards

Receiving the applause of the City and Business Community we serve on two different counts was nothing short of humbling and heartwarming. The Secure-Rite Team was ecstatic to come away with two wins from the Kelowna Chamber Business Excellence Awards – the Social Leadership Award and Midsize Business of the Year Award. The two wins validate that the rubber meets the road for the goals we set and the outcomes we seek. We are committed to striving for excellence in everything we do, and continuing to put people and community first – when you come to Secure-Rite, you're part of the family.

The Completion Of Large
Scale Projects

Our Structures Team had a very busy year of modifying shipping containers for a variety of outputs; for example, a kiosk and gender-neutral washroom unit for the People's Washroom Project (City of Kelowna), 40 custom recycler units for the Regional District of Central Kootenay, and many others.

Take a peek at other projects we have worked on.

While the '2020 normal' may be sticking around a little while longer, there is plenty of good to be grateful for from this year. We are so grateful to our clients, the community at large, our staff, loved ones, and suppliers for pressing forward and striving to deliver excellence to those you serve, and for being a reminder that we are truly all in this together. We look forward to taking on whatever 2021 has in store together.
