Choosing the right office for your job site comes down to one key question: What will it be used for?

A breakroom where tradespeople grab coffee and warm up? Or a full workstation where your project manager runs the show? Or maybe a digital command center?

At Secure-Rite, we offer two core types of shipping container offices: the Site Office (Basic) and the Project Office (Premium). Both are steel, secure, and ready to go, but they're designed for different needs. And if neither quite fits? Don’t worry, we can custom-build a container office to suit your exact requirements.

What's a Site Office (Basic)?

The Site Office is your no-frills, grab-and-go workspace. It's built for the day-to-day grind – a breakroom, pitstop, or staging area for tradespeople coming and going throughout the day.

What's inside:

  • Plywood interior

  • Basic electrical (fewer outlets, no data connections)

  • One in-wall heater

  • Durable steel construction

Best for: Break stations, tool storage, short-term projects, and budget-conscious operations.

What's a Project Office (Premium)?

The Project Office is the upgraded option – finished, insulated, and designed to be a real workstation. This is where your site foreman sets up shop, where safety meetings happen, or where you meet with clients.

What's inside:

  • Crisp white paneling

  • Insulated floor

  • Full electrical package with data hookups

  • Two in-wall heaters

Best for: Project manager workstations, first aid stations, client-facing environments, and longer-term projects.

  • Quick, functional breakroom: Your crew needs a place to warm up, grab lunch, and take breaks. The mobile Site Office delivers secure, weather-resistant space without overcomplicating things.

  • Short-term or rotating sites: Moving from site to site? Our site container office is cost-effective and gets delivered fast.

  • Budget matters: Get the job done without any extra bells and whistles.

When to Choose a Project Office

  • Real workspace needed: Running the project on-site? Our Project Office has desks, data hookups, and a comfortable environment for all-day work.

  • Client-facing: A polished interior makes a better impression when meeting with clients or inspectors.

  • Longer-term projects: Insulated floor and upgraded electrical make daily life more comfortable for months or years on-site.

  • First aid station: Clean, well-lit space perfect for medical supplies and safety equipment.

FAQs About Secure-Rite Shipping Container Offices

What's the main difference between a Site Office and a Project office?
A Site Office is a practical, jobsite-ready space for breaks, check-ins, and day-to-day coordination. A Project Office is a more finished workspace built for planning and admin tasks, meetings, and functions like safety/first aid and supervisory work.

Can I customize either office?
Yes. Both can be customized based on how and where you’re using them — from interior layout to built-in systems. We can custom-build office containers for your needs. Common upgrades include:

  • Electrical & power: extra circuits, higher amperage panels, more outlets, exterior plug-ins, generator/shore-power readiness

  • HVAC & climate: upgraded heating/AC, cold-weather packages, vestibules, better insulation, heated floors (where applicable)

  • Air quality: enhanced ventilation and air filtration options for dusty environments (mining, civil, industrial sites)

  • Lighting: brighter task lighting, exterior flood lighting, emergency lighting

  • Access & flow: man doors, roll-up doors, additional windows, partition walls, meeting room layouts

  • Safety & compliance: first-aid room layouts, eyewash stations (where applicable), signage and secure storage areas

  • Washroom builds: fully contained washroom units (plumbed solutions depend on site servicing requirements)

  • Security: upgraded doors/locks, lockboxes, alarm-ready prep, internal secure rooms

  • Sizing & modular options: standard sizes we commonly stock include 10’ and 20’ office containers, and we can build larger configurations (including extended or combined layouts) when a project calls for it.

How fast can you deliver?
Usually, within a few business days, depending on your location.

Do I need a permit for a sea can office?
It depends on your municipality and how long it'll be on-site. Typically, any job site with an open building permit is permitted to have office containers and storage containers on site without any additional permits.

Can I rent-to-own?
Absolutely. Secure-Rite offers rent-to-own options with 50% of your first six months of rental charges going toward purchase. Learn more about whether renting or buying is right for your project.  We also offer lease-to-own options for most clients.
